Welcome
to Heartsblood Wyld

updated 08/2006

Welcome, and thank you for stopping in and taking the time to visit with us on our incredible journey, now 6 years in. Heartsblood Wyld is a small farm located just outside of historic Cambridge in upstate New York, just north of the capitol Albany. This 300 year old farm is nestled in the quiet pastoral beauty of rolling green hills and lush farm land at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains. It is home to a various assortment of miniature donkeys, llamas, cats, and dogs, and it is now home to 9 extraordinary Traditional Romani Cobs/Horses, also known as Gypsy Cobs, Gypsy Horses, or Gypsy Vanners, and their offspring.

What horseman does not know the wonderous feeling of pouring your "Heart's Blood" in to working with, training, raising, or just being allowed to enjoy those creatures we know as horses? They capture our imagination, inspire our dreams, and become a part of our extended families. Through the years I have worked with horses of all breeds and dispositions, but when I came upon the Traditional Romani horses or Gypsies, I knew I had found a new dream to take hold of, an extension of old dreams. To learn about this horse, to delve as deeply as one can into the culture that developed this magnificent animal, is to find an enduring strength of spirit, and a beauty in the reality of a people who's culture has always been cast in shadows and myth. I can not think of a symbol to better represent the Romani~ Traveller~ Gypsy culture than that of their horses.

Captured, entranced, and beguiled, my sister and I have but no other choice than to hold close to these wonderous horses, and go forward on a journey that is now richer, more colorful, and more heartfelt, than the day before they stepped in to our lives.

Come, journey with us, for these horses are like the air that we breathe, vital and necessary for our existence.

   Sincerely,
Leighann and Kathy
